18 June 2020 – Offenbach Marktplatz becomes ‘station of the future’! project-mo.de made a research contribution
Within the framework of “project-mo.de”, the LOEWE research cluster “Infrastructure – Design – Society”, Deutsche Bahn commissioned the HfG Offenbach to prepare a study for the “Zukunftsbahnhof Offenbach Marktplatz”.
The suburban train station Offenbach Marktplatz should above all become brighter, friendlier and more lively! A team of design researchers from project-mo.de provided research contributions for the study of Offenbach Marktplatz for the “Zukunftsbahnhof” (‘station of the future’). This has provided essential impulses for future innovations, which are now being tested. DB has involved other project partners for the implementation.
Deutsche Bahn is investing a total of half a million euros in the project Zukunftsbahnhof Offenbach Marktplatz. There are plans to build 16 ‘stations of the future’ in Germany. In Hesse, the station in Hofheim am Taunus was selected in addition to the Offenbach Marktplatz station. The exact plans were announced at a press conference with Deutsche Bahn, the Rhine-Main Transport Association and the city of Offenbach (see here for DB press releases).
