Curriculum Vitae (Summary)
Dr.-Ing. Stefan Göbel is an assistant professor with a permanent position as academic councilor, lecturer and head of the Serious Games group at the Multimedia Communications Lab at Technische Universität Darmstadt. He has been researching methods and concepts for the realization, monitoring, and evaluation of Serious Games since 2008. The latter include environments for collaborative education and training; customized (preventative and rehab) games for physical and mental health; games for marketing, the cultural sector, and tourism; and awareness games for socially relevant issues, such as security or energy.
In the framework of the IDS LOEWE Research Cluster, Dr. Göbel and his team are examining how games can be used to promote environmentally friendly mobility behaviors. Their work is proceeding in close cooperation with mobility experts in the New Mobility Working Group at the Frankfurt UAS and design specialists at the Hfg Offenbach. Additional cooperation in the framework of a HOLM innovation project—namely a pilot study undertaken with two Hessen-based SMEs—is facilitating further complementary and extremely practice-oriented research.
In 2018, Dr. Göbel advocated for “Playful, Environmentally Friendly Mobility Behaviors” at the science-meets-business event, GameDays, and at the Joint Conference on Serious Games.
