Mobility design and AI research

With the new project “Human-AI Systems: Interaction Design for Interiors of Autonomous Driving Systems in Public Transport” led by Prof. Peter Eckart and Prof. Dr. Kai Vöckler, a collaboration with Prof. Dr. Visvanathan Ramesh, head of the Center for Cognition and Computation at Goethe University, is starting. Together, they will conduct research on fundamental questions of the integration of humans and AI, especially on the topic of trust in human-AI interaction, which plays a central role in the acceptance of autonomous transportation systems in public transport. Design research contributes insights into how interaction can be positively influenced by design decisions. These are merged with the systems engineering approaches for transparent and explainable technical design and development of third-wave AI systems.

The project (HA project no. 1015/21-17) runs from May 2021 to April 2022 and is funded by the state of Hesse and HOLM funding under the “Innovations in Logistics and Mobility” measure of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing.
